Middies Hang 3-2 Loss on Northern Lions BC
|
The Grafton Middies got a strong performance from pitcher Craig Whitney, who stymied the Thunder Bay offense en route to a 3-2 win at Field of the Middies. Truman Valentine picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Ramón Molina was tagged with the loss. Lynwood Matos closed it out for his 2nd save.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Mario Ramos was at the plate when Grafton scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Middies to go in front, 3-2.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams.
Losses have been rare for the Northern Lions BC, who are now 9-3.
