Scarpenti never let Syracuse get something going. The Niagara Falls left-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Expos to a win. After today's action, Niagara Falls sits at 34-50, while Syracuse falls to 29-55.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the third inning when the Expos sent teenager Jaime Moya to the plate against Storm hurler Shi-xian Kuai. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a first pitch fastball to score 2.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Moya told the Niagara Falls Gazette.
