Bellevue beat Alameda at Alameda Field, escaping with a 6-3 win. The win in large part was due to third baseman Miguel Elías, who earned player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The winner was Jorge Travieso, who threw 117 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. Jin Kwon closed it out for his 19th save.
Elías came through with some timely hitting for Bellevue. With the score 3-2 in the top of the fifth and two down, Elías hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run double. It was his 14th double of the season -- and a big reason the Bruins managed to win.
"Ah, the sweet taste of victory!" Elías crowed after the game.
The Bruins now have a record of 41-38 with the win over Alameda.
