Middies Suffer 2-1 Loss to Northern Lions BC
|
Thunder Bay and Grafton duked it out at Field of the Middies and the Northern Lions BC came out victorious.
The Grafton Middies got a superb performance from pitcher Wayne Hurst, but the Northern Lions BC still won the game, 2-1. Hurst was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs. Rafael Cardona, who went 7.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 14 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 3-0. The save went to Jorge Castillo, his 1st this season.
Thunder Bay took control in the top of the sixth. With no one out and a runner on 2nd, Carlos Rodríguez hit a run-scoring double to make it 2-1, Northern Lions BC.
Rodríguez called the triumph "a good team win."
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC, now 9-2, have had a terrific start to the season.
