Expos Best Storm in Pitching Duel
|
Matthew Fallows could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Syracuse Storm lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Niagara Falls Expos at Storm Park. Washington Scarpenti got credit for the win, improving to 3-4. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 5.1 innings. The Expos' win now puts them at 28-41.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the fifth inning when the Expos sent teenager Bogumil Tiwontschik to the plate against Storm hurler Matthew Fallows. With a runner on 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a first pitch sinker to score 1.
"Runs were at a premium," said Niagara Falls manager Dave Ross.
