Expos Turn Back Syracuse, 8-4
|
Niagara Falls right-hander Marnix van Rijn pitched his team to victory over the Syracuse Storm at Storm Park. The final score was 8-4. With the win, the Expos improved to 27-41.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the fifth inning when the Expos sent teenager Corey Dudding to the plate against Storm hurler Rich McLean. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a first pitch fastball to score 2.
"We came out aggressive," said Niagara Falls Expos manager Dave Ross. "We came out swinging the bats."
