Chukars Edge Kennesaw in Pitching Duel
|
Matko Perisc pitched a gem to lead Idaho Falls to a 1-0 victory over the Kennesaw Jets. The winning pitcher was Perisc, now 4-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 4. Ramón Granados, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.
Tied up with the Jets in the top of the fourth, the Chukars got a boost from catcher Tony Manzanares. With a runner on 2nd, Manzanares saw a 2-0 fastball from Sergio Reyes and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Idaho Falls on top, 1-0.
"We didn't score," said losing manager António Sáenz. "That was the problem."
Idaho Falls is third in the Silver A with a record of 38-28.
