Chukars Deal Expos 9-6 Setback
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars grabbed a 9-6 win over the Niagara Falls Expos at Idaho Falls Park. Idaho Falls left fielder Alistair Mix was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 to earn player of the game honors. Vicente Romero, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 7-0. Enrique Costa earned the save for Idaho Falls, his 3rd.
Tony Manzanares was a key contributor to the win for the Chukars. In the bottom of the fifth with one out, the light-hitting catcher stroked a single to right. He went 2 for 4 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Mix told the Idaho Falls Today.
At 34-26, the Chukars are currently 4th in the Silver A.
