Expos Dump Chukars, 6-4
|
León Preciado had a good game, but he could not keep the Idaho Falls Chukars from falling, 6-4, to the Niagara Falls Expos at Idaho Falls Park. The Idaho Falls left fielder was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 in the loss. Washington Scarpenti earned the win for Niagara Falls. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 5 hits, while striking out 2. With the win, he raised his record to 2-4. Niagara Falls has run its win streak to 5 in a row.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the seventh inning when the Expos sent teenager Gabe Cain to the plate against Chukars hurler Enrique Costa. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-0 curveball to score 2.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Niagara Falls manager Dave Ross.
