Loss Extends Walla Walla Losing Streak
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars picked up a win at Walleye Tank, knocking off the Walla Walla Walleye, 3-2. Starting pitcher Matko Perisc, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Ramón Granados earned the save for Idaho Falls, his 6th of the year. The slumping Walleye have lost 7 straight.
Tied up with the Walleye in the top of the fifth, the Chukars got a boost from catcher Tony Manzanares. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Manzanares saw a 0-1 cutter from Ids Knegt and hit a run-scoring double to break the stalemate and put Idaho Falls on top, 3-2.
"Everyone's trying too hard," said losing manager Arturo Chávez. "If we learn to relax, we'll be fine."
