Generals Score Late, Top Chukars, 7-6
|
Getting a good performance from left fielder Mike Lipide, the Washington Generals defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars, 7-6. Lipide was 2 for 2 with a triple and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Generals. Washington reliever Ramón Cortéz was the winner. His record is now 4-0. Juan Rúbio took the loss. Washington, at 31-21, sits in second place in the Silver A.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 3rd in the top of the sixth. That's when David Tineo, who is tied for 3rd in the SA in stolen bases with 15, hit a run-scoring double. The Generals went on to win.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Tineo said.
