The Hammond Herons finished things off in style today at The Heron Refuge.
Hammond overcame a superlative game from Osiris St. Brown to beat Kennesaw, 2-1. The Kennesaw pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of shutout ball. Hammond goes to 27-23, Kennesaw to 22-28.
Héctor Rivera was the walk-off hero for Hammond. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Hammond pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We were in it," said Kennesaw manager António Sáenz. "We just didn't score enough runs."
