Hammond pitcher Edgardo Salas gave the Walleye all they could handle, but in the end, Walla Walla left The Heron Refuge with a 5-2 win. Salas allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits over 7.2 innings. Sjoerd Reynoud got credit for the win, improving to 4-3. He allowed 2 runs on 9 hits in 6.2 innings. Quan Shiu closed it out for his 12th save.
Bobby Ochs didn't waste any time giving his team the lead. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run home run to put Walla Walla on top, 2-0.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Ochs, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Walla Walla, at 19-29, sits in 9th place in the Silver A.
