Chukars Prevail, 8-4, Over Bellevue
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars downed the Bellevue Bruins, 8-4, at Idaho Falls Park. The Chukars were led by Jesús Román, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-2 with 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. Idaho Falls reliever Ron Armstrong got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Jorge Travieso was tagged with the loss. Matko Perisc earned the save, his 2nd.
Tied up with the Bruins in the bottom of the fifth, the Chukars got a boost from designated hitter Jared Morningstar. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Morningstar saw a 1-1 slider from Jorge Travieso and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Idaho Falls on top, 5-4.
"We swung the bats pretty good throughout the lineup," said Idaho Falls skipper Dan Anderson.
This win makes it 1 in a row for Idaho Falls.
