The Alameda Airmen got a stellar effort from pitcher Patrick Buzard, helped Alameda score a 3-2 win over the visiting Grim Reapers. Alameda reliever Tome Colmieiro got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Archie Erickson was tagged with the loss. The 6th-place Airmen have won 4 consecutive games.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 2-2, third baseman Phil Pettit won it for Alameda. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Pettit hit a 1-1 fastball from Archie Erickson for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 3-2 win.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Buzard. "Those qualities define our team."
