"Getting ahead of the hitters is the key," said Clingan.

Washington pitcher Wendell Clingan did his part in helping his team beat the Idaho Falls Chukars, 9-0. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Clingan went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-4.

In the top of the fourth, with the game tied and two out, Idaho Falls had the bases loaded. Dan Cummings had a chance to do some damage. But he grounded out.

The second-place Generals are now 24-12, the Chukars 22-14.
