Herons Take Down Walleye, 10-5
|
Hammond shortstop Hirohisa Ogasawara was instrumental in his team's 10-5 win over the Walla Walla Walleye. Ogasawara, who leads the SA in hits with 34, went 4-5 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Herons. Ryunosuke Kurota earned the win for Hammond. He lasted 7.2 innings, allowing 4 earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 3-1. The Herons go to 16-10, putting them third in the Silver A.
Also doing his part was right fielder John O'Neil, who stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fourth for Hammond. For the game, O'Neil was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"Glad to get this win," said O'Neil. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
