Getting an impressive start from Loren Berdine, Bellevue beat Walla Walla by the score of 6-2. Berdine, now 2-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. With the win, Bellevue improves its record to 8-4.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the third inning when the Bruins sent teenager Júlio Morín Jr. to the plate against Walleye hurler Jon King. With runners on 1st and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a home run off a 1-1 fastball to score 3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Morín Jr. told the Bellevue Chronicle.
