Mancelona got a terrific performance from pitcher David Buchanan, but it wasn't enough to beat the Delaware 1787 BC. Delaware won the Torch Field contest, 5-3. Buchanan was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball. Will Hoffman, credited with the win, is now 6-8. He allowed 1 run on 8 hits in 8 innings. Charles Wells earned the save for Delaware, his 9th of the year.

The 1787 BC beat the Torch in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the home run Bryce Abood produced in the top of the fifth. Batting against Mancelona pitcher David Buchanan, he gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a solo home run.

"I felt good up there," said Abood. "I saw the ball well."

The 'W' lifts Delaware's record to 38-39.
