|
Louisiana starter Omara Moctar had a strong outing against the Galesburg Guzzlers at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-3 win. Moctar went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 3-2. Jason Pearson recorded the save for Louisiana, his 2nd of the season.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Dragoons sent teenager David Martínez to the plate against Guzzlers hurler Mike McKay. With a runner on 1st and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 2-0 fastball to score 1.
"Omara was throwing strikes, locating well," said Louisiana manager Justin Trewhells.
The 5th-place Dragoons are now 43-34, the Guzzlers 25-52.
