Chiefs Fall Short, 4-2, at Galesburg
|
Marshall Willis helped his team muscle past the Connetquot Chiefs, 4-2. In the game, the Galesburg left fielder was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI. Mike McKay earned the win for Galesburg. He lasted 6.2 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 8 hits, while striking out 7. With the win, he raised his record to 2-2. Picking up the save was Geoff Stackhouse, his 3rd.
Willis came through with some timely hitting for Galesburg. With the score 1-0 in the bottom of the third and no one down, Willis hit a 1-0 curveball for a 2-run single. It was his 18th hit of the season -- and a big reason the Guzzlers managed to win.
Connetquot manager Don Nelson said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The last-place Chiefs have dropped 4 straight games.
