Dragoons Edge Connetquot in Pitching Duel
|
The Louisiana Dragoons and Connetquot Chiefs put on a pitchers' duel at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium.
The Connetquot Chiefs wasted an inspired, 8-inning effort from starter Alan McKinney, falling 1-0 to the Louisiana Dragoons at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. Omara Moctar picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-2. He struck out 7 in 6 innings. Gary Mason recorded his 10th save for Louisiana.
The Dragoons beat the Chiefs in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the single Ken Gill produced in the bottom of the sixth. Batting against Connetquot pitcher Alan McKinney, he gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Gill.
Louisiana has now won 3 straight, while the Chiefs have lost 3 in a row.
