The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC launched their 2028 campaign with a victory over the Vancouver Grey Wolves at Great Northern Field. Thunder Bay designated hitter David Smith was instrumental in the 9-4 win. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Thunder Bay starter Rafael Cardona was credited with the win after throwing 112 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
