Caterpillars Shut Out Dragoons
|
The Grand Forks Caterpillars went home winners at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Rizaldo Manansala. Manansala silenced the Louisiana Dragoons, enabling Grand Forks to grab the 3-0 win. Grand Forks reliever Salvador López picked up the win to move to 2-4. Tony Gonzáles suffered the loss. Elias Ijzendoorn earned the save for Grand Forks, his 1st of the year.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the seventh inning when the Caterpillars sent teenager Craig Tricket to the plate against Dragoons hurler Jason Pearson. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a first pitch fastball to score 2.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Manansala.
Today's win puts Grand Forks at 24-37, while Louisiana falls to 35-26.
