Tight Tilt Goes to Caterpillars, 4-2
|
The Mancelona Torch got a sterling performance from pitcher Zafar Zahir, but the Caterpillars still prevailed, 4-2. Zahir was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Grand Forks starter Rizaldo Manansala was credited with the win after throwing 85 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-5. The Caterpillars go to 17-29, putting them 11th in the Menard's A.
The Caterpillars got a big at-bat from Craig Tricket. For the game, Tricket was 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 48th hit of the season gave Grand Forks a 3-1 lead.
Mancelona manager Jerry Moore said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
