Guzzlers Squelch Highwood Offense in Shutout Win
|
The exploits of first baseman Eun-bum Kim, who is tied for 9th in the 3A with a .379 on-base percentage, helped the Galesburg Guzzlers defeat the Highwood Hawks, 3-0. Kim went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Bob Mullinax, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-2. Geoff Stackhouse finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
Early in the game, Kim had a 2-run single for Galesburg. It was his 18th hit of the season and put the Guzzlers on top, 2-0.
Said Galesburg manager Rickey Burrell: "I tell our guys all the time: 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction.'"
The win pushes Galesburg to a record of 6-8.
