Rivas Excels, But BC Win
|
David Rivas did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Phoenix Hotspur Youth from losing, 9-8, to the San Antonio BC at Grenadiers Ballpark. Rivas was 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. San Antonio reliever Michael Taylor picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. José Santiago absorbed the loss. The 9th-place BC have won 4 straight.
The BC got a big at-bat from Phil Dougherty. For the game, Dougherty went 1-4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 27th hit of the season gave San Antonio a 8-6 lead.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Dougherty told the San Antonio News.
