Chávez Excels in Mercer Island Win
|
Screaming Eagles center fielder Raúl Chávez put his stamp on his team's 8-2 win over the Chesapeake Continentals. Chávez hit 3 home runs for Mercer Island in the contest. Reid Garrett got credit for the win, improving to 8-3. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 5.1 innings. The Screaming Eagles go to 67-29, putting them first in the Premier AA.
Also pitching in was Mercer Island second baseman Jorge Pérez, who hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth. For the game, Pérez was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once.
Pérez said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
