Lionhearts Jolt Highlanders with Late Rally

The Lannister United Lionhearts defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 5-4, at Lionheart Field. Lannister United catcher Tabor de Maria was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Lannister United reliever Yoshida Kudo was credited with the win, to go to 7-3. Luis López took the loss for Asheville. The third-place Lionhearts have won 5 straight.
de Maria had a game-changing single in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-1 fastball from Luis López, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Lionhearts a 5-4 lead. It was the 12th hit of the year for de Maria.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Asheville manager Richard Weaver.
