Renaissance Jolt Express with Late Rally
|
António Boccanegra had a good game, but he could not keep the Wizarding Express from falling, 4-3, to the Detroit Renaissance at Platform 9 3/4. The Wizarding catcher slugged 2 home runs in the loss. Detroit reliever Rafael García was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was Eijiro Takahashi. The save went to Bruce Wright, his 12th this season.
Alex Maxwell had the most critical at-bat for Detroit, coming in the top of the ninth inning with one out and a runner on 2nd. Maxwell hit a 1-1 slider from Eijiro Takahashi for a run-scoring single. It put Detroit in front, 4-3.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Maxwell told the Detroit Gazette. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
Detroit now owns a record of 36-64.
