Highlanders Win at Chesapeake, 5-2
|
The Asheville Highlanders scored a 5-2 win versus the Chesapeake Continentals at Chesapeake Grounds. Asheville pitcher Ipe Talboom nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Luis López earned the save for Asheville, his 9th of the year. Asheville currently is in 8th place in the Premier AA at 39-46.
In the top of the second, Miguel Montoya hit a 2-run double for Asheville. The 18th double of the season for the Asheville right fielder put the Highlanders on top, 3-1.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Asheville skipper Richard Weaver.
