Tight Tilt Goes to Eclipse, 4-1
|
The Eclipse had to overcome a fine performance from Mercer Island pitcher Gob Bluth to grab a 4-1 win at Mercer Island Grounds. Bluth went 5.2 innings and allowed no earned runs. Xavier Padilla picked up the win, improving his season record to 5-4. He struck out 6 in 7.2 innings. The Eclipse saw their record improve to 43-40.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the second, with the game tied, Alfonso Grappasonni was at the plate when Northville scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Eclipse to go in front, 3-1.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Grappasonni said after the game.
