Misfits Walk It Off for 37th Win of Season
|
The Asheville Highlanders got a superb performance from pitcher Romano Martínez, but the Misfits still won the game, 3-2. Martínez was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. Salem reliever Darryl Bachman was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Bobby Irvine took the loss for Asheville. Salem is 37-34 and Asheville, with the loss, 29-42.
Cris Gonzáles had the critical at-bat for Salem. With no one out in the bottom of the 11th inning, he hit a sacrifice fly. It gave Salem the 3-2 walk-off win.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Asheville manager Richard Weaver.
