Benefiting from the performance of John Townsend, the Northville Eclipse defeated the Asheville Highlanders, 9-4. Townsend was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Eclipse. Javier Luna got credit for the win, improving to 7-4. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 7.1 innings. After today's action, Northville sits at 31-32, while Asheville falls to 27-36.
When the Eclipse needed a boost, it was the light-hitting Townsend who delivered. Facing Asheville pitcher Bobby Irvine the top of the eighth with the bases loaded, Townsend hit his 2nd home run of the year. It made the score 8-3.
