The Chesapeake Continentals racked up a win at Chesapeake Grounds, bumping off the Asheville Highlanders, 5-1. Francisco Sandoval, who started for Chesapeake, pitched effectively for his team. Today's win puts Chesapeake at 18-24, while Asheville falls to 18-24.

In the bottom of the 6th, designated hitter Martín Alejadre gave Chesapeake the lead when he hit a 3-run home run. The Continentals had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out home run off Asheville pitcher Ipe Talboom changed that -- and Chesapeake went on to win.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Chesapeake Continentals manager José Flores, "I like our chances."
