Phoenix Hotspur shortstop Enrico Sánchez had a terrific game. He was 3-4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Mercer Island beat the Youth, 7-5. Sánchez was named the player of the game despite the loss. The winner was Esteban Miroz, who threw 105 pitches over 6 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits. Tomiji Saikawa recorded the save for Mercer Island, his 1st of the season.

Tied up with the Youth in the bottom of the fifth, the Screaming Eagles got a boost from first baseman Leonardo Ramírez. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Ramírez saw a first pitch fastball from Millard Dalton and hit a 2-run triple to break the stalemate and put Mercer Island on top, 6-4.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Mercer Island manager Jared Gilbert.
