Eclipse Take Tight Tilt
|
The Northville Eclipse got a strong performance from pitcher Xavier Padilla, who stymied the Phoenix Hotspur offense en route to a 3-2 win at Old-Timers Park. In 5.2 innings, Padilla surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Rafael Méndez got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Northville catcher John Townsend helped the Eclipse go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the game tied, Townsend hit a run-scoring single off Phoenix Hotspur pitcher Derrick Hopkins.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Northville manager Juan Padilla.
Losses have been few and far between for the Phoenix Hotspur Youth so far this season. Their record drops to 6-3.
