Youth Defeat Lionhearts, 7-6
|
The Lannister United Lionhearts got a superb performance from catcher Miguel Herrera. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Phoenix Hotspur. The Youth won the game, 7-6. In spite of the loss, Herrera was named the player of the game. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Phoenix Hotspur reliever Vernon Turner picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Doug Freeth was saddled with the loss. The save went to Richard Osborn, his 2nd this season.
David Rivas was a key contributor to the win for the Youth. In the top of the seventh with no one out, the light-hitting center fielder stroked a single to center. He went 2-5 with 2 singles.
"Nothing is scripted in this game," said Rivas.
Phoenix Hotspur, at 3-0, is off to a blistering start.
