Hotspur Reserves Go Down to Defeat, 5-2
|
The exploits of catcher Juan Tapia helped the Bakersfield Nobles defeat the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 5-2. Tapia was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Hiro Kurasawa got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 6.1 innings, giving up 10 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 3. The Nobles improved to 46-43.
Bakersfield took the lead in the top of the seventh when Tapia hit a 2-run home run. His 5th home run made the score 4-2, Bakersfield.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Bakersfield skipper James Wheeler.
