Braves Lose, 6-5, at Jersey City Grounds
|
Jersey City third baseman Mike Strickland made his presence felt in the 6-5 Tritons triumph over the Gryfindor Braves. Strickland was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Greg Rook, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 4-7. Christian Mustard converted his 22nd save in 24 tries.
Strickland had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the fifth. On a 1-0 fastball from José Flores, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Tritons a 6-3 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Strickland.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Gryfindor manager António Macías. "The effort was great."
Jersey City is in third place in the Premier AAA with a record of 46-42.
