Targaryens Outmuscle Pure Michigan, 9-8
|
Despite a great performance by Pure Michigan center fielder Jean Chamissa, the Royse City Targaryens defeated the Great Lakers by the score of 9-8 at Lansing Park. Chamissa was 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Royse City reliever Harry Mander picked up the win, upping his record to 9-0. José López was saddled with the loss. Edgar Lankford was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Javier Chávez had a big 2-run single for the Targaryens in the top of the second inning. With Royse City leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from José López and stroked the single to center. It was his 89th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Targaryens ahead, 4-1.
"What a game," said Chávez. "We needed every last run."
The 7th-place Targaryens lifted their record to 43-44.
