Pitcher Mike Owens was sensational for the Houston BC in his team's 3-1 triumph over the Bakersfield Nobles. Owens received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Owens was the winning pitcher and moves to 8-5. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. Katsuyoshi Takuda earned the save for Houston, his 20th of the year.
Also making an impact was catcher Orlando Padilla, who drilled a double in the top of the second for Houston. For the game, Padilla went 2 for 4 with a double.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play ever better," said Houston manager Javier González.
The Houston winning streak has now reached 5 games.
