Dogfish Head Come Up Short at Bakersfield
|
The Bakersfield Nobles got a stellar performance from pitcher Fernando Torrez, who handcuffed the Milton offense en route to a 3-1 win at Jerome Grounds. The winning pitcher was Torrez, now 5-4. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. The third-place Nobles improved to 38-34.
Also doing his part was catcher Chandler Bailey, who stroked a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth for Bakersfield. For the game, Bailey went 2-3 with a double and a walk.
Bailey told the Bakersfield Gazette: "I don't know which I enjoy more -- being a ballplayer or the perks that come with being a ballplayer."
