The Panama City Piranhas picked up a win at The Tank, knocking off the Wizarding Express, 3-2. Starting pitcher Kirby Buckner, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Buckner, now 11-1, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Express, now 51-37, have lost 5 in a row.
In the bottom of the 6th, left fielder Sergio Muńóz gave Panama City the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Piranhas had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out home run off Wizarding pitcher Ralph McKinney changed that -- and Panama City went on to win.
Wizarding manager Dan Cahill said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
