|
Plymouth overcame a superlative game from Ángel Rivera to beat Athletic Club KC, 3-2. The Athletic Club KC pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. Bob Payne, credited with the win, is now 3-5. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 6.1 innings. Jamel Rhoads notched his 10th save in 10 chances.
Also playing a key role was Willis Baker. The Plymouth catcher hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, Baker went 1-3 with a home run and a walk.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Athletic Club KC manager Hugh Howard.
Plymouth is 6th in the Premier AAA with a record of 29-31.
