Big Day for Durand: Swats 5 Hits
|
After the Plymouth 10-6 victory over Bakersfield and his 5-hit day first baseman Ned Durand told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game are very good. Three or four hits even better, five or more are out of sight ... and if it is in pro ball, it is really something special."
The 27-year-old player gained that distinction today at Jerome Grounds with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Bakersfield Nobles.
The skipper of the Rocks spoke glowingly of Durand, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Ned did that to perfection today."
Ned Durand singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Doug Carlton in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Bastião Shwerin in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Luis Ochoa in the 10th.
Thus far this season Durand is hitting .306 with 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 37 hits in 121 at-bats and has played in 30 games.
