Great Lakers Beat Rocks, 8-6
|
Pure Michigan left fielder Alex Maxwell played a vital role in his team's 8-6 triumph over Plymouth. He was 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Pure Michigan. José López got the win, improving to 4-4. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 6 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Pure Michigan, now 24-11, holds first place in the Premier AAA.
The Great Lakers beat the Rocks in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the single Ramiro Rico produced in the top of the second. Batting against Plymouth pitcher Armando Marrero, he gave his team a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
In comments to the Pure Michigan Chronicle, Maxwell insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
