Guzzlers Win, Hope to Turn around Slow Start
|
Behind a solid performance from left fielder Armando Rodríguez, the Galesburg Guzzlers defeated the Provo Mango, 7-4. Rodríguez went 1-1 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Guzzlers. Galesburg reliever Rex Negrete picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Savon Scarver was saddled with the loss. Geoff Stackhouse got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Rodríguez had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Savon Scarver, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Guzzlers a 5-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Rodríguez.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Rodríguez.
The Galesburg Guzzlers are off to a tough start, getting just their 4th win in 10 games.
