Martínez Hits 2 home runs in Express Win
|
The Wizarding Express knocked off the Boston Patriots, 7-4, at Dunkin Donuts Park. António Martínez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Wizarding won. The third baseman was 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. Dan Mitchell got credit for the win, improving to 9-7. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 5.1 innings. Eijiro Takahashi closed it out for his 32nd save.
Martínez came through with some timely hitting for Wizarding. With the score 2-1 in the top of the fifth and two down, Martínez hit a first pitch sinker for a grand slam home run. It was his 13th home run of the season -- and a big reason the Express managed to win.
In postgame comments to the Wizarding Observer, Martínez said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
At 50-32, the Express find themselves in second place in the Premier League.
