Polar Bears Fall to Shooters, 4-2
|
Springfield rode a fine outing from starter Gabriel Valenzuela to victory over the Billings Polar Bears at Springfield Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Valenzuela went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 9. His record improves to 2-2. Ieyoshi Asai closed the game out for Springfield, earning his 17th save.
With runs few and far between, the Shooters had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Springfield came in the bottom of the fourth. That's when left fielder Daniel Faraday delivered a bases-clearing double. The double was hit off Orlando Uribe and made the score 4-0, Shooters. Faraday went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Faraday said.
The Shooters raised their record to 50-46.
